Urasawa has become a legend since his debut in 1983. He has created unforgettable stories and extraordinary works that have been rewarded with an endless list of national and international awards. As a result, he was chosen as the poster artist for the 30th Manga Barcelona. As part of this reference event, the Tokyo-born Japanese author will set foot in the city of Barcelona for the first time.

The stars of this unique piece presented by the author of the poster will be the iconic characters that have accompanied the mangaka during his career. Characters that we can recognize from Urasawa’s great works such as YAWARA!, Monster, Happy!, Billy Bat and 20th Century Boys. All of them, located in front of our Sagrada Familia, focus their gaze to frame this unique and unrepeatable encounter. A clear reference to the arrival of Naoki Urasawa's entire universe in Barcelona. We are witnessing a personalized work dedicated to celebrating this thirtieth anniversary with the art of one of the most acclaimed genius in the world of manga.

In addition to the great mangakas already announced, such as Kamome Shirahama, Akasaka Aka or Yokoyari Mengo, Takeshi Kawaguchi and Yuki Tabata will join us as well. Takeshi Kawaguchi wrote the series Fate/Grand Order -turas realta-, the manga based on the videogame Fate/Grand Order. Yuki Tabata, the well-known author of the manga and anime Black Clover, will also visit the event. As for the music scene, we will welcome the group Psychic Fever, winner of the Next Generation Global Award in 2022. A boyband that will cause earthquakes to the rhythm of K-POP.

The most hardcore cosplay fans will be thrilled to hear that this year the show will feature the current winners of the World Cosplay Summit 2024. The Japanese team, a duo formed by Mioshi and Mamemayo, who won the highly relevant competition, have decided to pay us a visit with their talent this year. Another pair of cosplayers also joins this edition: Fooly Cosplay, consisting of Miquel Candela and Victor Fernandez from Barcelona.

The artistic father of our beloved Onachan will also be present at the 30th Manga Barcelona: Carles Dalmau. The Catalan illustrator is known for his works Lucid Lucy and Calamari Kebab, and now as the creator of the mascot of Manga Barcelona.

30 years, 3 decades, Manga Barcelona started when our first big manga and anime fever was just beginning. It was a pioneering event and thirty years later it remains the benchmark. There are generations of otaku who have grown up with us, and since this year marks our otaku party, we are preparing an exhibition that will collect all the memories and experiences of our audience over these thirty years. Thus, the protagonist of our exhibition is our audience, which has always been the great engine of this event being involved and participating in everything we do.

But we also want to pay tribute to the pioneers and remember our origins, so we have prepared our Otaku Room straight out of the 90s, decorated and filled with all the things that any manga and anime fan would have on the walls, tables and shelves. A trip down memory lane that is sure to make you feel nostalgic!
