The XXII Salón del Manga de Barcelona presented its newest developments in a press conference held on October 24; journalists from the most important media took part in this event. The Salón will take place from Saturday, October 29, till Tuesday, November 1, in the premises of Fira Barcelona Montjuïc. The event will take up Palaces 1, 2, 4, 5 and Univers Square, with a large covered stage. For the fifth year in a row, the Salón will increase the exhibition area to 70,000 square meters, as well as the amount of activities and exhibitors.
The presentation of the XXII Salón del Manga de Barcelona before numerous media was attended by the studies coordinator of Escuela Joso, Centro de Cómic y Artes Visuales, Josep Maria Polls; Nintendo 3DS' Product Manager, Manuel Curdi; the director of the Salón del Manga de Barcelona, Carles Santamaria; the deputy director of Fundación Japón in Spain, Keiko Ozaki; and the acting consul general of Japan in Barcelona, Akiko Sagano.
Japanese literature will be paramount in the XXII Salón del Manga de Barcelona, with a broad activity schedule. Proof of this is the confirmation that the renowned author Banana Yoshimoto, who has published her works in more than 30 countries –Spain among them–, will take part in the event, thanks to the collaboration of Fundación Japón.
One of the central themes of this XXII Salón del Manga de Barcelona will be Japanese literature. The show will have the Japanese author Mitsuyo Kakuta (Yokohama, Japan, 1967) as a guest. Ms. Kakuta is one of the most well-known Japanese writers, and has written more than fifty novels, story collections and essays.

The XXII Salón del Manga de Barcelona, which will take place from Saturday 1 October to Tuesday 1 November 2016, will take up 70,000 square meters in the grounds of Fira Barcelona Montjuïc. This constitutes a new record figure, some 10,000 square meters more compared to last year's edition, as well as a new occupancy record. Besides, this edition extends the program of activities and the opening times. One of the central themes of this year's show will be Japanese literature and its relationship with manga and anime.
The 34th edition of Barcelona International Comic Fair will be one of the most remembered editions. Not only for the record space that will occupy and already presented activities, but also for the reputation of the guests. To the previously announced guests, we are pleased to announce that Mr. Frank Miller will join the event. The veteran author, one of the most important authors in the history of comics, will attend the Barcelona Comic Fair as Guest of Honor, thanks to ECC Ediciones in collaboration with FICOMIC.
On Thursday, February 11, Francisco Ibáñez made public the poster of the latest edition of the Barcelona International Comic Fair, designed by him. This year's Comic Fair, which will be held between May 5 and May 8, will take up 45,000 square meters at Fira Barcelona Montjuïc, a record area. One of the main attractions in this year's Comic Fair will be the role of cars, motorbikes and bicycles in comic.
